The Pavilion and Garden committee are currently in the process of organizing the 2015 community garden program and need your feedback in order to make this year’s program a success. In brainstorming and discussing with neighbors we received similar questions about the garden and the other green features in this community:
- How do I get involved in the community garden program and how is it run?
- What kind of maintenance do the rain gardens, rain barrels, or permeable walkways require?
- What plants are really considered native?
In order to answer some of these questions, we reached out to Howard County Master Gardeners, which provides free presentations and workshops as part of University of Maryland’s Extension Program (see 2014 catalog). Provided there is enough interest (8 attendee minimum), they have committed to providing monthly presentations in the community. To gauge interest, we have designed a survey with a list of potential topics that may be available to us. If you are interested in participating in the community garden this year or would be interested in attending free presentations or workshops, please fill out the survey at the link below. We ask that you submit your responses by Wednesday, February 11.
Once we have tallied your responses we will submit a list of desired presentations to Master Gardeners. We will follow up with additional notifications once dates and times have been proposed to ensure as many residents as possible may attend.
